Public invited to the Naval Commissioning of the USS Jack H. Lucas DDG 125 Warship in October

 - Port Tampa Bay is proud to serve as the host facility for the Naval Commissioning of the USS Jack H. Lucas DDG 125 warship on October 7, 2023. The Jack H. Lucas Commissioning Committee, Navy League of Tampa and U.S. Department of the Navy are working with the port to host this important ceremony.  Ship commissioning is the act or ceremony of placing a ship into active Navy service. The moment the commissioning pennant is broken at the masthead, a ship becomes a Navy command in her own right, and takes her place alongside the other active ships of the fleet.

The commissioning ceremony is one of the most significant milestones in the life of a U.S. Navy ship and includes a weeklong event of festivities for the ship’s crew, the U.S. Navy and the Tampa Bay community. The USS Jack H. Lucas DDG 125 is currently under construction in Pascagoula, Mississippi but will travel to Tampa Bay for the ceremony.

I want to invite all the Supply Corps Officers (past and present) in the Tampa Bay Area to join me for lunch at the Diner's Reef Dining Facility (DFAC) on MacDill AFB on Wednesday 11 OCT from 1200 - 1300. Address as follows: 8118 Hillsborough Loop Dr., Bldg #263, MacDill AFB, FL 33621. Purpose of the luncheon is to:

1. Provide an opportunity for all Supply Corps in the Tampa Bay area to get to know each other.
2. Provide an opportunity to request feedback to improve our Chapter and Chapter's Webpage.
3. Request volunteers for Chapter's Positions: Vice President, Secretary, Webmaster, and Community Outreach Coordinator (and any other recommended).

The Chief of Supply Corps, RDML Kenneth Epps, will receive the officers, spouses, and guests of the U.S. Navy Supply Corps at the All Calls made and returned reception at the Hamilton Live, Washington D.C on Friday, 17 November 2023 from six-thirty to eleven in the evening.
