Read the Spring issue of The Oakleaf

The Spring issue of The Oakleaf is available online now! This issue is all about you--our Members! Starting with the cover, we shine the spotlight on Members who work hard to serve our Community and share the value of the Supply Corps with the public. Heritage Committee Volunteer LT Pamela Velez is a terrific example of the dedication of our Members--her story is on page 7. Also featured on the cover page is new Board Member CAPT (ret) Eddie Fishburne. We get to know Eddie and four other new Board Members on page 12. Plus, in our lead cover story, we catch up with Scholarship Recipient Rachel Beanland, who is now an accomplished novelist!
On page 5, we say thanks to our beloved Spouse Representative Gracie Dziewiatkowski for five years of dedicated service to the Foundation. On page 11, we celebrate NSCS's December 2021 Navy Supply Corps Foundation Leadership Award winners, ENS Nicholas Lenover and LT Joshua Todd. Don't forget to read the updates from our Transition and Recognition Committee Chairs, including a reminder to submit 2021 Chapter-of-the-Year and Volunteer-of-the-Year nominations by April 1st. And, if you've missed our social media posts, just click away on page 15 to get caught up on the latest Community news! Of course, a highlight of every issue is RADM (ret) Dan McKinnon's Sea Stories. Starting on page 16, Admiral McKinnon tells the story, "I did my best work as a Lieutenant".
Are you famliar with The Vintage Oakleaf Club? Foundation Members 90 years and older make up The Vintage Oakleaf Club, identified on page 21. If you're on the list and want to share your Supply Corps story, please call the Foundation at (706) 354-4111 or email us at mysupplycorpsstory@usnscf.com .
The Spring issue wouldn't be complete if we didn't thank each one of you, our many generous donors, for your faithful contributions to the Foundation in 2021. Our donor list starts on page 25. There are so many ways to support the Foundation, including The Tench Francis Legacy Society (page 8) and Foundation Endowments (page 19). You can make a difference.
Each issue of The Oakleaf brings our Community together, as we share memories of our past and create new opportunities for future experiences. What would you like to contribute to The Oakleaf? Active, retired, reserve, former and family members are encouraged to submit articles, pictures, news and updates to theoakleaf@usnscf.com. Please keep submissions limited to 300 words and two images with captions.
Remember, membership in the Navy Supply Corps Foundation is free! Encourage all who have ever worn the Oakleaf of the U.S. Navy Supply Corps to register as a Member, or update membership contact information, online now. Enjoy the Spring issue of The Oakleaf!
